This is a once-in-a-lifetime find, a beyond rare display specimen. This specimen was found in a clear-water sinkhole where it was protected from river currents. It was found associated with many extinct species including saber-cat, peccary, jaguar, and short-faced bear. It is very well mineralized, no question as to the age of this one. It was found in exceptional condition. This is not a skull that was crushed and carefully pieced back together, it was found fully inflated. Only approximately 5-7% repair, mostly to the premaxilla and zygomatic arches. We do have pre-repair pictures. This is an incredibly well preserved skull which shows all details perfectly. The teeth have very attractive cream/light yellow colors. The color of the bone is most accurate in the last two pictures (in hand). We have encountered a number of spectacled bear skulls from Florida, however, this is the first black bear skull that we have ever seen from Florida!
