This is a large and impressive rooted mastodon tooth for a fantastic price. What makes this specimen unique is that it has a massive cavity right in the middle of the occlusal (chewing) surface. This is probably the largest cavity that we have ever encountered on a mastodon tooth. A large percentage of the root system is still intact, easily 80% . Some nice marbled coloration and glossy patina on the enamel. This is a nice mastodon tooth that makes a great display without breaking the bank.
