This is a beyond rare, one-of-a-kind American lion sesamoid bone. The sesamoid is located on the bottom of the foot and bears a good amount of the body weight of the individual. This example is in perfect condition and is highly detailed. This is one of only a small handful of American lion fossils that we have ever offered for sale. This is one of the very rarest and most iconic species of the ice age.
