This is a large and very impressive mastodon femural head (femur ball). This specimen is rock solid and very heavily mineralized. It weighs almost 3lbs. Well preserved specimen that was from a subadult individual as evidenced by the underside which was not fully ossified with the main femur. Impressive specimen that is a quite uncommon find.
