This is a very nice fully rooted alligator tooth. Alligators are constantly losing their teeth during feeding, but in order for an alligator to lose a rooted tooth the alligator had to actually die which is why rooted alligator teeth are so rare. This is an exceptional specimen that is very well preserved and detailed.
