This is an extremely nice and very uncommon beaver femur (leg) bone. This specimen was found in two pieces and has been glued. For whatever reason, very few adult beaver bones are found with the articulating surfaces fully ossified, so this is a rare bone indeed. It is solid and very heavily mineralized.
