This is a very unusual pathological canvasback coracoid. This specimen was likely broken, slightly misaligned, and healed. The pathology was difficult to photograph, but much more evident in hand. Pathological bird bones are exceedingly rare as most injured birds are eaten before they have a chance to heal.
