This is a very rare gomphothere tusk tip that was found in a phosphate mine in Bone Valley, Florida. This specimen is very well preserved with crisp features all around. It shows the classic enamel band that cleary shows this specimen as belonging to gomphothere. Pictures truly do this specimen absolutely no justice - it is much nicer and more detailed in hand. It is rock solid and very heavily mineralized; it weighs 5.1oz.
