This is an absolutely monster sized alligator scute (osteoderm). This specimen is almost perfectly square and measures 3" x 3" x 1 3/16". It is rock solid and very heavily mineralized. It shows an attractive blonde patina from the spring waters in which it was found. Awesome and very impressive example - these are very rare to find this size.
